Living Free

Well, we didn't just eat and watch movies in the cabin at Idyllwild.  We actually went outside!  We drove about 15 minutes away to the Living Free animal sanctuary.  They rescue cats and dogs from San Diego county animal shelters that are about to be euthanized.  They bring them to the sanctuary and try to adopt them out to loving homes.  But if the cats and dogs aren't adopted out they get to live the rest of their years there.  How cool is that?  When we went they had about 14 dogs and 83 cats!  Here are some pictures of the CATTERY.  Mark was like Dr. Doolittle.  All  of the cats flocked to him!!

Idyllwild

Mark and I spent my birthday weekend in our friend's cabin in Idyllwild.  We had such a good time just relaxing and trying to stay warm.  Here are some pictures from the cabin.

The Office

Sheona and Jon came over a couple of weeks ago to play games and eat pizza.  Sheona beat all of us at The Office board game and I came in last place.  Boooo!  It was fun nonetheless.

Even Dave enjoyed himself as he held onto the trophy.

Somebody is getting OLD!

Its no secret that I'm turning 30 in a few short days.  And my coworkers even remembered this year!  Here is the cake they made for me.  Brenda baked it and she and Ray decorated it.  They were sure to add the extra large numbers on the side of the car.  It was thoughtful and tasty all rolled into one.

New Toys = Happy Dog

Pige lucked out in December as she got quite a few new toys.  She LOVES plush toys.  Even if they only cost $1.  Especially if they only cost $1.  My dad and I are currently in love with The Dollar Tree (different locations, of course).  So, Pige was the recipient of an array of new plush toys from the dollar store.  Here are some pictures of her enjoying the white teddy bear that was in her stocking on Christmas morning.

I really wish I would have recorded her when I gave the toy to her for the first time.  She is always so excited to get a new toy, but she takes it from your hand ever so gently.  She usually carries it around for a few days and licks it.  At some point she'll start gnawing on the eyes or nose.  When she hears the sound of tearing threads she turns into a crazy girl as she feverishly pulls the stuffing out and spits it on the floor.

She's at it again.

No, I'm not talking about Pige eating leftovers out of the trash can again.  I'm talking about Gwen's awesome post highlighting our New Years Day.  Click HERE for your reading pleasure.

The Tootsie Roll Sneak

Well, I'm back to work after my immensely enjoyable 3 WEEK VACATION.  I have a new hair cut, a new attitude and new goodies to bring to work.  For instance, I brought my lunch to work this morning in a cute and fabulous cooler bag my dad gave to me for Christmas (thanks Dad!).  When I got to work I unpacked my bag, placed my lunch in the fridge and then unveiled the other thoughtful gift my dad bestowed upon me in late December.

This little gem now resides in the bottom drawer of my desk and has inspired me to invent the Tootsie Roll Sneak.  What is that you might ask?  Is it similar to the quarterback sneak?  Not really.  Is it akin to the one cheek sneak?  Certainly not.  It is a maneuver all of its own.  The Tootsie Roll Sneak is when I swiftly reach over to the bottom drawer and act like I am looking for some office supplies, but instead stealthily pull out a little tootsie roll midgie and hide it in my hand until no one is looking and I can pop it in my mouth.  This happened 4 times before the clock struck 11:00 this morning.  But they're midgies folks!  The littlest tootsie roll they make.  I shouldn't be ashamed of that, should I?

Happy New Year!

I don't know if this is just a weird Scottish superstition or if its general New Year's tradition, but last night I took down all of our 2008 calendars and didn't put up the 2009 calendars until after midnight. Mark asked why and I said, "Because my mom said so."

I now have a scrapbooking day-by-day calendar on my desk and a gardening calendar on the fridge. But if I had room for one more calendar in our house it would be this one....

I just adore William Wegman and his cute puppies.
