Survival of the Fittest

Pige is a (very) domesticated pet. She sleeps indoors, wears a collar, always has food to eat and loves belly rubs. But if for some reason she were left out in the wilderness to fend for herself I know she would do just fine. I recently took some pictures of her markings that act as a protective defense mechanism.

These brown markings above her eyes make it look like she is always awake even if she is asleep.

And these black markings on her toes make her claws look ferociously long.

Iron Chef : SPAM Challenge

We had the 2nd Iron Chef Challenge at my parent's house this weekend.  Secret Ingredient : SPAM.  Gwen already posted a lovely summary with pictures.  Check it out here.

But before you go, here is a Haiku about Spam.  (also known as a Spam-ku)  This is by John Cho from his book Spam-ku, Tranquil Reflections on Luncheon Loaf.

Hello out there!

Dave muggin' for the camera.  He has a new found love for tennis balls that have been pre-soaked in dog slobber.  Luckily those are plentiful in our house.

Double Decker Becker

Double Decker Becker was Sheona and my nickname for a short time in high school when we played volleyball together.  Those were some good times.

Here is Dave and Lizzie enjoying their temporary double decker chair.

Kissin' Cousins

They aren't actually cousins.  Sheona & Jon's cats are vacationing at my parent's house right now.  Here's some pictures of all the action.  Max & Jake really love the half wall and lounging on tables that they aren't supposed to be on.

Handyman

Mark is amazingly handy.  He just tiled our back room.  It was a ton of work, but it looks great.  We still have more to do in order to finish the room off, but I predict a speedy finish to this long and arduous project.  I hope to be able to be eating at our new table in our new room in a few more weeks!  And you're all invited!  I'll add more pictures when the room is finished, but this shows the progress.

Did you leave this here?

Mark and I made a quick run to Home Depot last night to get a few things for our tiling project (I'll update with pictures soon).  When we got home, Mark went into the bedroom to change and called me in there to look something.  He said, "Did you leave this here?"

I most certainly did not, but I have a hunch who might have......
